BIO

Madison Taylor Knutson began dancing at the age of seven in Southern California. Within a short year of recreational classes, her parents recognized her inclination for the arts and enrolled her in competitive dance. This sparked a fire in her soul, which she would spend the rest of her childhood, adolescence and young adulthood tending to.

Madison thrived in the competitive realm of dance in SoCal from age eight to eighteen. Since then, Madison has trained with various companies and programs such as American Ballet Theatre, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, the Boulder Jazz Dance Workshop, DanaMetz Co., and has attended the American College Dance Association West conference in 2018 and 2019.

A recent graduate of Grand Canyon University, Madison has been involved in production after production. She has performed and shown work at the Herberger Theatre in Phoenix for four consecutive years, in addition to being involved in countless student choreography shows at her University. Madison has performed in a total of six faculty shows with the Ethington Dance Ensemble, which annually presents work by choreographers from the University of Arizona and Arizona State University such as Angel Crissman, Sean Dahlberg, Kevin Godfrey, Susannah Keita and Alicia Nascimento. Madison has worked with renowned choreographers such as Miguel Perez, Paradosi Ballet Company, Christy McNeil-Chand, Jess Hendricks, Kari Herman and Christian von Howard.

Since an early age, Madison's mind has had a route for choreography- she began fostering this aptitude with a greater pursuit in college. She has presented numerous pieces in student choreography shows, including jazz solos The Flux (2016) and In Suit (co-choreographed with Isiah Johnson, 2018), and five other contemporary works. She has also set competitive routines for Diamond Dance Works and Bowen-Hayes School of the Arts.

During her junior year, Madison's work In the Station of a Metrowas selected to perform with faculty work in the Ethington Dance Ensemble's The Tipping Point- an accomplishment she counts as a blessing.

In her senior year, her piece the sun will rise and we will too (2018) was selected to represent Grand Canyon University at the 2019 American College Dance Association West conference in San Jose, California. The sun will rise and we will too was adjudicated with forty other works from various universities, and was selected to perform in the top ten at the conference's Gala. The piece represented one of only three undergraduate works in the show.

Madison graduated April 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary English Education and a minor in Dance. She is beyond excited to begin her post-college career as a mover and creator. Since graduating she has presented work in the Inland Empire Dance Festival, and is teaching at Inspire Dance Complex in Corona, California.
